Today we continued with our microemulsions (from 3-13-17) but instead of mixing a total of 1 g of each, we scaled up to 20 g of each . However, we discarded ME1 because the final appearance was cloudy after 24 hours, so today we changed the formulation of ME1 (results pending). Since ME2 and ME3 were successful after 24 hours (solution was clear and non-cloudy) we scaled up and performed a dissolution test on each. To perform the dissolution test, we placed a drop of each sample into an individual test tube and then added 1 drop of water. If the water floats on top of the sample, it is a water in oil solution. If the sample floats on top of the water, it is a oil in water solution. Our sample was determined to be a water in oil solution.
