Our experience with microemulsions continues. As resulted from yesterday's tests of particle size and zeta potential, our capsaicin microemulsions have failed. Today we managed to produce 66 different formulations for possible microemulsions. We will have to let the emulsions sit over the weekend and on Monday, we will be able to use our results to build a pseudoternary phase diagram. The system consists of oil, surfactant/co-surfactant and water in differing volume. The ideal system will produce a homogeneous solution in which all phases are miscible. Once we build our diagrams we can determine the ideal microemulsion system in order to load our capsaicin into it.
